Stephanie McDowell, from Jutland Avenue, Hebburn, said she's been trying to put the word out via Facebook, but has had to suffer crank calls. Archie, her 12-year-old Bengal eagle owl, was hand-reared from a chick and so has no wild hunting instincts. He went missing on Thursday March 15.

A pair of dusky lories (Pseudeos fuscata) have been hand-reared by the Weltvogelpark zoo in Walsrode, northern Germany. The species, which is indigenous to Indonesia and parts of Papua New Guinea, is extremely difficult to breed in captivity.
